Introducing the “Yazoo Li” Jujube - discovered right here in Mississippi!

A world-renowned fruit!

The 'Yazoo Li' jujube, was discovered in Yazoo City, Mississippi by Taylor Yowell in 2020.

“This tree appears to be a seedling. It does not appear to be Li. It was originally planted in the early 1980s and became quite large before the tree was destroyed by a tornado in 2010. Many suckers have sprouted and they have very large fruit.” - James Nave

Jujubes are one of our favorite fruits to eat and grow here at The Garden Farmacy! They have a sweet, crisp flavor with a crunchy, apple-like texture. Fresh and dried jujubes are perfect for a healthy, refreshing snack, and are also commonly used in baked goods like breads and tarts. You can also bake them or turn them into butter, just like baked apples and apple butter, yum!

Jujubes are also chock-full of vitamins, minerals and nutrients, especially vitamin C. Other health benefits include helping with insomnia, respiratory and cardiovascular issues (to name a few!).
